This book is standard for many base level Forestry and Natural Resources class however it is difficult to read because of the vast amounts of over-explaination and repetition within each chapter. Don't buy this book unless you absolutely have to.

Hendrika C. Freud is a Psychoanalyst and a Member of The International Psychoanalytic Association and Association for Child Psychoanalysis. She is a teacher, supervisor and training analyst of the Dutch Psychoanalytic Society and The Dutch Psychoanalytic Association and has been in private practice for nearly fifty years.

Great exposition of Freud's Oedipal position updated to include the role of the mother in a different light. Not only object relations theory but also Lacanian thought and current feminist views. Boys and girls experience mothers in different ways. Explains pathology of the mother -daughter dyad. Offers clinical vignettes.

What Some Women Go Through

This book is about how the myth of Electra can be viewed as a guiding metaphor to describe the situation when the relationship between mother and daughter goes awry. She offers a different take on Mahler's view of symbiosis being a natural stage of development and includes a variety of examples from her work to back up her views (Chap 2). She ponders "what would have happened had psychoanalysis been the brainchild of a woman rather than of a man. Instead of the Oedipus story - a man's drama - it is likely that the myth of Electra would have been the point of departure. It offers an excellent illustration of some of the pitfalls that women face in their development." She also dedicates a chapter on post partum depression and one as well on the history of hysteria suggesting that chronic fatigue syndrome is one of society's modern versions of it. I think the translator did an excellent of job of translating this book from Dutch into English as it makes for an easy to follow read. Some quotes from it as follows:

"A child is too much in need of the mother's love not to do what the latter wants. Anger only appeared when Wendy was with people other than her mother. This mechanism is known as 'splitting.' The same mechanism applies when children enjoy stories about the hateful stepmother, reserving their love for their own mother. The good and the bad mother - the same person originally - are divided between two or more individuals, so that the positive relationship with the mother is not threatened." pg 18

"An expectant mother sometimes has the fantasy that all her yearnings, aspirations, and unfulfilled ideals will be met by her daughter. .. But if the mother ... is depressed, she will not be able to tell her fantasy baby and actual baby apart very well. At that point she sees in the cradle what she hopes to see - or else the one she did not want to see again - instead of the child that is lying there as its own individual being and in its own manifestation. She sees her despised mother in the baby and reacts by projecting her past onto it: 'She wanted nothing to do with me from the moment she was born', 'She never wanted to be touched', 'She has always been very distant', and so forth. She sees her baby as her enemy or, conversely, as a part of her body and mind. In the latter case, she will begin to consider her baby as an irreplaceable extension of herself. The child is fed when the mother is hungry or gets attention when she is in need of validation." pg 22

"When a daughter becomes pregnant, she sometimes senses two competing dyads arising. She must be loyal to her mother but also has her child to care for. She is called on from two sides. The grandmother and the baby are fighting for the young mother's attention. She fears her mother's jealousy of the child who is now getting her full attention. Then she begins to suffer great strain, and will become depressed and furious, usually with her husband. No matter how hard he tries, he can never do anything right any more." pg 23

"symbiosis can be interpreted as a pathological two-sided illusion that can hold a daughter imprisoned. It seems a more fruitful use of the concept than symbiosis as a normal development phase. pg 59

"This leads to a second paradox of the symbiotic illusion. Differences are denied, while the two parts never really become each other's equals. Nina knows just two possibilities: either she is the dependent and rejected one, or she herself looks down on her objects as inferior. .. Nina feels that she is a victim while, at the same time, she profits from her position as the indispensible one because that gives her exclusive rights to her mother's love ..." pg 60

"The myths of Oedipus and Electra are very different in nature, although they both address a child's rivalry with the parent of the same sex ... Actually, Clytemnestra is equally as helpless a victim of fate as is Electra, and she, too, has a childlike yearning for a loving mother ... In her despair, Clytemnestra looks to Electra for comfort, almost as if the latter is her mother, and not her daughter. This moment of weakness only arouses contempt and mistrust in Electra ...." pg 65

There are some very intimate sections in this book which I didn't quote from and in the end, this book left me with a much better appreciation of what some women might have to deal with.

A Very Well Thought Out, Very Well Scientifically Researched, & Impressively Well Written Book!

Everyone, undoubtedly, has to face Depression at some point of time in their life. No exception to that. Rather stressing out about Depression or getting frustrated with it, it's 100 times wise to deal with it. But a million dollar question is how one can deal with it? Aid of antidepressants, medicines, even meditation and yoga gives a very little result or temporary feel good effect sometime, or doesn't give the exact same result in every case!

The monster always comes back to give another nightmare!!

Unless we understand this subject as a whole, we will fall short in dealing with it for sure. However, there is only so much to know. So what's the Solution? This book. Yes, this book will help you deal with the subject of Depression in a wholesome way. One need to know only this much knowledge that is presented in this book to deal, understand and solve the Depression from the root.

When I read this book, I have finished it in one sitting, just couldn't put it a side. I realized I would never go up to this extent to nail down the
subject of Depression. The author has presented not only the emotional, psychological and medical treatment aspects of Depression, but offered a unique blend of yogic perspective, Ayurveda knowledge, and complete understanding of complexities of life and relationships and imprints of the life events on our mind. That made this book a worth of my reading time.

The book presents the understanding of Depression, the uniqueness of each cases and offers varieties of solution to deal with it. Yes this book covers the real life case studies from across the cultures to make it all inclusive.

A very well thought out, very well scientifically researched, and above all impressively well written book presented with a genuine intention to help the victims! I am thankful to it's author for writing such a beautiful book! It helped a lot to understand many things.

I highly recommend to buy and read this book to all who have suffered or are suffering or know someone who is suffering from Depression. It will be honestly helpful.

Addictive narrative,“When all is not well” will transform completely the stigma that surrounds the depression.

This marvelous book “When all is not well” accompanies the readers to discover genuine findings by themselves. The clever, sincere and contemporary perspective of Om Swami who understands very well this complex world, reveals several answers by more natural and practical approaches to overcome the depression in the long term and for this I mean not temporary.
In addition to his innate vast wisdom (erudite in ancient Indian philosophy) Om Swami led a serious research about the physiopathology and biochemistry of depression, translated it in a pleasant narrative that introduces different viewpoints in a very objective and respectful way regarding traditional medicine, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to get a better understanding of the elements implied on developing depression.
Regardless if you have been exposed yourself or you know someone (could be relatives or strangers who has been depressed) thanks to the addictive rhythm of this precious book, it will make you feel related with the persons described on the cases. It moved me deeply to the tears I felt instantaneously compassion and empathy for each one of them.
I have been the witness of Om Swami’s healing voice and the power of his encouraging words. His unlimited compassion and unconditional love to all those who need him the most!
No matter if you are a self-employed, a householder, a successful business person, or a health care professional, this invaluable book definitely will expand your preconceived vision about depression, since it can reach everyone, at anytime, regardless races, socio-economical level, education, gender, “When all is not well” will transform completely the stigma that surrounds the depression.

Yet another masterpiece by Om Swami. Extraordinary! Swami’s writing style is very clear, touching and addictive. I couldn’t put the book down until completion. His years of experience working with depressed people clearly shows through in his words. This is a must read for everyone (no matter who you are, whether you had depression or not).

Having been a victim to this demon called Depression, I stand testimonial to Om Swami’s healing touch. His loving and empathic words worked magic on me. He made me feel wanted in what felt like a wicked world. This book moved me to tears because I could relate to each one of those stories. A deep sense of compassion touched me triggering a desire to spread awareness about depression. It’s a condition that you don’t want even your enemy to experience.

This book, written from a Yogic perspective, has the potential to change, rather save lives. I’m planning to gift this book to everyone I know who needs help. Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor by reading this book.

After reading all the great reviews I was fairly excited to get this book and begin learning how to get into real estate.

I began reading and the whole intro and first chapters were about making sure you have the right mindset. Great, I already had the right mindset or I wouldn't have bought the book.

I kept reading waiting for the real stuff to start. More fluff. I try to read on-wards, more fluff...

I begin perusing to where the real stuff actually begins, although it seems to never actually get there. I would love to return this to get my money back but the price of return shipping comes out to about the price I paid... kinda lame.

Save your money and buy a book that actually helps you develop a strategy. This book will only help the you get excited about the fact that you need a strategy. While some people may need that kick to get up and do something, if you are up to the point where you are buying a book to help prepare you to get started - this is not it.

I found this book to be rather inspirational. Described in detail was a manner in which one could, simply by following directions and employing basic due-dilligence, come to possess and own-outright, over a period of time, a portfolio of real estate assets valued in excess of $1million.

Major pro's of this book include:
- No get rich scheme
- Plenty of charts and tables
- Mental-maps to how the wealthy perceive money as compared to the un-wealthy (i.e. the Financially Wealthy Money Matrix, the Path of Money, etc.)
- Explaining the key difference between an opportunity and a deal, and how one's criteria and terms are involved in each
- Profiles of real Real Estate Millionaire Investors who were surveyed to create the content for this book

Cons:
- None that come readily to mind

I have, and will continue to recommend this book to anyone who is seriously considering investing in real estate. There's no sense re-inventing the wheel, and viewed properly this book can be viewed as a set of schematics to help you build your own before you start.

I have a BS in EE, pursuing a teaching degree in Physics. This text is being used for a Physics undergrad course in Electronics. It has several typographical errors in both the text and end of chapter problems in the first two chapters. In addition, the explanations are dense and unhelpful, and the derivations skip steps without explanation. This text should not be used; there must be several better written texts, even if you need to delve into those meant strictly for Electrical Engineering coursework.

Had Martin Plonus spent more time proofing his text he would not have wasted so much of mine. My class found errors in the abbreviated derivations, examples, homework problems, and even one conceptual error. This book has far too many errors to be of much quantitative use. I would wait for a corrected edition to become available or simply use another text.

More than one hundred static and active poses are included in Visualizing Muscles. Paired photographs one painted and labelled, one not show how the simulated muscles produce the subtle lights and darks, hills and valleys, on the model's unpainted skin. Captions highlight the muscles called into play by a given pose.

Dr. Cody, who experimented with techniques for two years, pioneers the use of a model on whose skin muscles, tendons, and fascial sheaths are painted with scientific accuracy. Because of the elasticity of the skin and paint, the painted musculature expands and contracts along with the underlying muscles. Thus Cody's technique enables students of anatomy to visualize the muscles beneath the skin and the changes brought about by movement.

About the Author
John Cody, M.D., a retired psychiatrist, received his training in medical illustration at Johns Hopkins' Department of Art as Applied to Medicine and spent eleven years as a medical and scientific illustrator. His watercolor paintings of giant silk moths are currently on display at the Smithsonian Institution. Among his published books is the Atlas of Foreshortening.

This is not a must have, but it can be used as a very handy guide, especially if you have students who are new to the figure.

Art study only ! (not technical reference)

This book is useful for artists such as painters and sculptors trying to accurately represent a muscular male body in different poses (like greek sculptures - Atlas, The Thinker, etc). Every page shows the model in a different position comparing the same pose in the "buff" with and without the painted muscles.

I bought this book a month ago, I still have not received the book and it is 8 days past its delivery quote.
I sent an email a week ago and still havent had a reply. They gave me a fake package tracking number and a window that opens saying "we do not have anything to do with TEXTBOOKSNOW. Please do not contact us for tracking their packages."
I would not recomment their services .
